In Loving Memory: A Legacy of Strength and Purpose
On June 6th, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of my firstborn daughter after her courageous, decades-long battle with Systemic Lupus and chronic kidney disease. Despite undergoing countless surgeries over the years, she lived with incredible strength, purpose, and resilience, defying medical expectations at every turn.

From her hospital bed, she earned a master’s degree in education, a true reflection of her brilliance, determination, and love for learning. She was—and always will be—my hero. Her spirit continues to guide everything I do.

She embraced life fully and lived out her pillars with grace:
Teacher. “Trini to de Bone.” Family. African Princess Warrior.

She taught me how to love unconditionally, how to be brave in the face of adversity, and how to live with unwavering purpose. I often told her, “I want to be like you when I grow up. You are my shero.”

Though I miss her voice and presence deeply, I take comfort in her final words to me:

“Go live your life, Mom. I’ll be okay.”

And so, I carry her legacy forward through community advocacy, education, and initiatives that support families impacted by Lupus and kidney disease. I know her father welcomed her on June 6th, and that she is now surrounded by her ancestors, resting in peace and power.

Her light lives on in my heart, in my work, and in every life I aim to uplift.
